My name is Kyle Brown. I am 23 years old, born and raised in the great state of New Hampshire. I graduated in Springfield College's class of 2012, with a B.S. in Exercise Science. I attended Concord High School in Concord, NH where I was a four-year, three-sport varsity athlete in Hockey, Football and Track and Field. At Springfield I was a four-year sprinter and a captain of the Track and Field team, which drew the attention of the US skeleton program, and earned me an invite to the USA Bobsled/Skeleton Combine in Lake Placid, NY.
After completing the combine in July of 2012, I then attended the USA Skeleton Sliding School in November. Upon completetion, I was invited back to train full-time in order to work toward my ultimate goal of representing the United States of America at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.
SUPPORT A USA SKELETON ATHLETE
The United State’s Olympic Committee can only fund the top three skeleton athletes that are competing on the World Cup Circuit. Every other athlete is "self-funded," and is required to pay for their own equipment, travel expenses, living, food, and any school loans as well. The sport of Skeleton is a very expensive sport - a sled can cost upwards of $12,000, plus additional costs for helmets, spikes, etc. That number does not include the cost of training and getting to/from any event/race.
I have decided to put my career on hold in order to commit and devote my time, and well-being to reach my goal of one day making it to the Olympic Games. This endeavor is going to require the continuous support of family, friends, and sponsorships. With your support, I will be able to focus on the task at hand and give my 100% commitment to the sport, rather than let my lack of funding get in the way of my dream.
I am humbly asking for some donations - of any amount - that seem appropriate to you. On top of that, a letter, email, note, or phone call with any words of encouragement is welcome. Hearing from my friends and family will help boost my motivation and help keep my eye on the prize. Please also feel free to spread the word to your family, friends, or colleagues. Anything will help and all is greatly appreciated!
The best way to make a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION is to click on the link below and visit the USA Bobsled and Skeleton Federation website.
http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Bobsled-and-Skeleton-Federation/Resources/For-Athletes/Athlete-Training-Fund.aspx
Once you are on the webpage, you can follow the easy to navigate steps to make/mail a donation that goes into my Athlete Training Fund. This money will be used for equipment and the other aspects of training that I mentioned earlier. If you are having any trouble making the donation, you can either message me or make a call to Lisa Carlock who is the Director of Finance and Operations.
Another way to make a donation is by hitting the DONATE button below. This will bring you right to a PayPal account page that directly sends the amount chosen to my “Skeleton Savings Account”. This is NOT Tax-Deductable! You do NOT have to make an account and it is 100% safe. You can also send cash or a check by mail. Whatever is easiest for you!
Here are ways of contacting me for encouragement or any other forms of support.
